SPONSORS
We are grateful to our funders who help us to advance service learning in Hawaii. They include:
The Atherton Foundation
A newly designed and revised newsletter and website was made possible in part through a grant from the Atherton Family Foundation. The electronic newsletter is being designed to more effectively reach the educational community with service learning resources and service opportunities.
State Farm Insurance
State Farm provides on-going support for Youth Service Hawaii and has donated more than $20,000 to date for Hawaii's Annual Service-Learning Conferences and Global Youth Service Day activities.
In addition to local support for Youth Service Hawaii, the State Farm Companies Foundation has provided substantial support for several national service-learning partnerships over the years, including lead sponsorship of the National Service-Learning Conference and Global Youth Service Day. The Weinberg Foundation
A surprise gift of $10,000 from the Harry and Jeanette Weinburg Foundation came to Youth Service Hawaii in July. At a luncheon where the gift was received , Andrew Gines, a graduating senior headed for college this fall, spoke about how service-learning has helped he realize the difference he can make in the community. He has been able to take a leadership role in State Wide Service Learning Conference. Board Members Carolyn Fujioka from State Farm and Valerie Ito from Bank of Hawaii helped accept the check.
